Astralis: The Text Adventure
A downloadable game for Android
Astralis is a Sci-Fi text adventure game which can be played on a website or a mobile app (Android only). Your goal is to save your universe after entering another universe to do so.
The website version is almost fully completed and it can be played here. (PC recommended)
This project is actually a school project with a duration of about a week. (12/4/24 - 12/10/24) The project is simple: make anything you want, as long as it at least somewhat fits the theme: travel. The only rule is no malware.
Astralis was brought to life by a passionate team of three developers, each contributing their unique skills to create an immersive experience — "Zytronium" (me): The visionary behind the game, I conceived the idea of a text adventure that seamlessly integrates an Android app, a database, and a web app. He also spearheaded the development of the Android app, laying the foundation for the game's interactive storytelling. John Wilson: As the architect of the website, John designed and implemented the game's web interface and its core functionality, ensuring players have an engaging and intuitive experience. Khiry Dixon-Manning: The database wizard, Khiry developed and managed the game's database. He also established the crucial connections between the web app and the database, enabling seamless data flow and interactivity. The team drew inspiration from classic sci-fi adventures and cutting-edge technology, combining their talents to craft a unique journey into the stars. Their collaborative effort highlights the power of teamwork and creativity. Thank you for stepping into the void with us. We hope you enjoy the adventure as much as we enjoyed creating it!
The background music, titled "Wormholes," was made by @DerekBrandonFiechter on YouTube. The background animation was recorded by moewalls.com.
We hoped to implement multiplayer voting with game pins if there was time, but there was not. This would have allowed a group of people to play together and vote on how to proceed in the game. In fact, this one of the main reasons for having a mobile app and an online database rather than just hardcoding the story into the website.
Note: The only AI generated asset of this project is the app icon, which was edited by a human.

After downloading, open your "My Files" app and find the APK file you just downloaded. It should be in your Installation files section or your recently added section, if your version of the app has those sections. Click on the apk file you just downloaded. If prompted what to open with, choose "Package installer." The app should install from there. If you're phone is running on an older version of Android, it may not be able to install. Note: This app is for Android only. iOS or other operating systems will not support it natively.
